Principle: The gospel, as taught to Adam, is the same gospel taught today, the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Read: 1 Nephi 13:10-13:27
In verses 20-27 Nephi sees the Bible going forth from pure to defiled. The Bible Dictionary under "Bible" states: "The position of the Church regarding the Bible is that it contains the word of God as far as it is translated correctly." (A of F 1:8) Joseph Smith taught that “many important points touching the salvation of men, had been taken from the Bible, or lost before it was compiled.” He also said that the Bible was correct as “it came from the pen of the original writers,” but that “ignorant translators, careless transcribers, or designing and corrupt priests have committed many errors.” (HC 1:245; 6:57.) The Church reveres and respects the Bible but recognizes that it is not a complete nor entirely accurate record. It affirms also that the Lord has given additional revelation through His prophets in the last days that sustains, supports, and verifies the biblical account of God’s dealings with mankind."
What is your understanding of and testimony of The Bible? How does that impact your testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ?
Hebrews 13:8 and 1 Nephi 10:18 state that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. How do you benefit from knowing that the gospel taught today is the same gospel taught to Adam and through all dispensations?
One clear example of these covenants was the promise made to Abraham.
Make a two column list. On one side label it "Promises made to Abraham" and on the other label it "Abraham's responsibilites".
