• Principle: The Sermon on the Mount can guide you in your quest to improve.
• Book of Mormon Reading: Alma 29:8 - 30:11
  • As you study the Sermon on the Mount today, ponder how the Lord answers the prayers of the righteous.  
• Study the Sermon on the Mount found in Matthew 5-7.  As you study this section do two things: 1. Keep the following quotes in mind and 2. Write down all thoughts, impressions, questions, and comments you have.
  • “Christ came not only into the world to make an atonement for the sins of mankind but to set an example before the world of the standard of perfection of God’s law and of obedience to the Father. In his Sermon on the Mount the Master has given us somewhat of a revelation of his own character, which was perfect, or what might be said to be ‘an autobiography, every syllable of which he had written down in deeds,’ and in so doing has given us a blueprint for our own lives.” (Decisions for Successful Living, pp. 55–56.)
  • “some portions of this comprehensive address were expressly directed to the disciples, who had been or would be called to the apostleship and in consequence be required to renounce all their worldly interests for the labors of the ministry; other parts were and are of general application.” (Talmage, Jesus the Christ, p. 230.)
