Day 281

  • Principle: Be full of "good works and alsmdeeds."

  • Book of Mormon Reading: 3 Nephi 2:1 - 2:19

    • The result of the wickedness of the people led to destruction.  Why does wickedness always lead to destruction? How did the Nephites and Lamanites work to prevent their destruction?

  • Tabitha, Aramaaic for Dorcas - meaning “a gazelle” was a well known woman in the area for her good works.  Read about her miracle:

    • Acts 9:36–42

      • Without extra details there is a lot to be imagined.  Was this a illness that Tabitha had her whole life?  Did she receive any blessings before Peter came?  Why did they show Peter the clothes she had made?  But without all these details we see a diligent woman who was brought back to life.

      • Two interesting aspects about this story:

        • 1. Peter rose and went when called.  How often do you get interrupted to go serve?  How can you use Peter as an example and reminder to rise up and go?

        • 2. Tabitha was full of good works and almsdeeds.  Think about those you know who are full of good works, how long does it take to gain such a reputation?  What actions do you ascribe to someone who is full of good works?  Do you do those same things?
