• Principle: Faith, Repentance, Baptism, and the Gift of the Holy Ghost are included in the Doctrine of Christ

• Book of Mormon Reading: 3 Nephi 11:18 - 11:41

  • We believe that the first principles and ordinances of the Gospel are: first, Faith int he Lord Jesus Christ; second, Repentance; third, Baptism by immersion for the remission of sins; fourth, Laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost.

  • What does Jesus Christ teach about these principles and ordinances?

  • What does it mean when He calls this “My doctrine"

    • What else is included in this doctrine.  

  • In verses 39-41 what are the promises when you build upon His doctrine?

    • How can you build upon His doctrine?  How is building upon different from changing or altering His doctrine?

  • In verses 21-28 the Savior uses baptize(d) nine different times.  According to verse 28, why do we need to be taught about baptism?  What additional insights do you gain about baptism?
