Day 305
Principle: Worthiness and desire are necessary to have the companionship of the Holy Ghost.
Book of Mormon Reading: 3 Nephi 18:36 - 19:14
How does your desire for the companionship of the Holy Ghost stack up against the desire of the Nephites for the Holy Ghost?
What do the people do in order to receive the Holy Ghost?
Consider the following
Richard G. Scott: “The Holy Ghost can guide and inspire our daily acts for good” (Richard G. Scott, in Conference Report, Oct. 2001, 107; or Ensign, Nov. 2001, 87).
Robert D. Hales: “The Holy Ghost … is the source of our testimony of the Father and the Son” (Robert D. Hales, in Conference Report, Oct. 2000, 6; or Ensign, Nov. 2000, 8).
Robert D. Hales:
“We need the Holy Ghost as our constant companion to help us make better choices in the decisions that confront us daily. … Having the gift of the Holy Ghost helps family members make wise choices—choices that will help them return with their families to their Father in Heaven and His Son, Jesus Christ, to live with Them eternally” (Robert D. Hales, in Conference Report, Oct. 2000, 6; or Ensign, Nov. 2000, 8).
Robert D. Hales: “Our young men and women are bombarded with ugly things of the world. Companionship with the Spirit will give them the strength to resist evil and, when necessary, repent and return to the strait and narrow path. … We all need the fortification available through the Holy Ghost” (Robert D. Hales, in Conference Report, Oct. 2000, 6; or Ensign, Nov. 2000, 8).
Russell M. Nelson: “The gift of the Holy Ghost … helps us understand doctrine and apply it personally” (Russell M. Nelson, in Conference Report, Oct. 2000, 19; or Ensign, Nov. 2000, 17).
Henry B. Eyring: “The Holy Ghost will guide what we say” (Henry B. Eyring, in Conference Report, Oct. 1997, 114; or Ensign, Nov. 1997, 83).
Gordon B. Hinckley: “There is no greater blessing that can come into our lives than the gift of the Holy Ghost—the companionship of the Holy Spirit to guide us, protect us, and bless us” (Gordon B. Hinckley, Teachings of Gordon B. Hinckley,[1997], 259).
