Day 324
Principle: Judgment was part of the plan from the beginning.
Book of Mormon Reading: Mormon 3:1 - 3:22
Verses 18-22 talk about the judgement. What are you feelings about these verses and final judgment? Why do you have this reaction to final judgment.
Bruce R. McConkie taught an interesting aspect about final judgment, he said:
“The reality is that there will be a whole hierarchy of judges who, under Christ, shall judge the righteous. He alone shall issue the decrees of damnation for the wicked” (The Millennial Messiah[1982], 520).
There are at least five sources that will take part on Judgement Day
Ourselves (see Alma 41:7; History of the Church, 6:314)
Our bishops (see D&C 41:9; 58:14, 17–20; 64:40; 72:17)
Scriptures (see Revelation 20:12; 2 Nephi 25:18; 29:11; 33:14; 3 Nephi 27:25–26)
Apostles (see Matthew 19:27–30; 1 Nephi 12:9; 3 Nephi 27:27; Mormon 3:18; D&C 29:12)
Jesus Christ (see John 5:22; 3 Nephi 27:14)
How does knowing there will be more than God involved change the way you feel?
Have you ever sat in a Bishops office for a temple recommend? Did you feel judged?
Judgment has a negative slant to it however, it can be a positive event. Such as reporting of a job well done. Think of a time when you have turned in a project on time that you did really well. You were setting yourself up to be judged but those feelings of anxiety were not there, it was of hope and accomplishment. Final judgment can be this way as you lean on Jesus Christ.
