• Principle: The Lord prepares spaces to accomplish His work.

• Book of Mormon Reading: Ether 2:1 - 2:12

• The Jaredites are directed to a “land of promise, which was choice above all other lands” (verse 7).  This is where the Lord can raise up a people to accomplish His work.  

  • What does Moroni, in verses 9-12, teach about this land?

• Gordon B. Hinckley taught:

  • “Great are the promises concerning this land of America. We are told unequivocally that it ‘is a choice land, and whatsoever nation shall possess it shall be free from bondage, and from captivity, and from all other nations under heaven, if they will but serve the God of the land, who is Jesus Christ’ (Ether 2:12). This is the crux of the entire matter—obedience to the commandments of God” (in Conference Report, Oct. 2001, 89; or Ensign, Nov. 2001, 73).

• Cross reference  Ether 2:7–12 with 2 Nephi 1:6–10

• The Brother of Jared utilized revelation to learn about where he should go.  As Matthew 16:16–18 teaches this is one of the signs of the Lord’s true church.
