- Day 48
- Principle: Jesus Christ's life was prophesied and completely fulfilled.
- Read: 2 Nephi 9:15 - 9:30
- What is Jacob testifying of in verse 17? What does this fulfillment mean to you?
- Study the following pairs of scriptures looking for what they teach you about Jesus Christ:
- Jesus Christ had mixed reactions to him throughout his life. Compare Luke 4:28–29 with Matthew 21:1–11 which happened a couple of years apart. A large part of the change was understanding that Jesus Christ was the Savior who was prophesied.
- Those who lived before Jesus Christ, during his life, and after his resurrection all can benefit from the understanding the prophecies and their fulfillment. Consider the following from Bruce R. McConkie:
"Messianic prophecies enabled those living before the birth of Jesus Christ to have faith in Him, thereby helping them to gain salvation (see 1 Nephi 10:4–6; 2 Nephi 25:18–20, 26; Mosiah 3:13). Messianic prophecies enabled those living at the time of Christ to recognize that He was the fulfillment of those prophecies, thus, helping them to gain salvation (see John 4:25, 29). Messianic prophecies help those living after Jesus Christ’s mortal ministry to know that He was the fulfillment of prophecies, thus helping them to gain salvation (see Acts 3:12–18; 26:22–23)."
