Principle: We can overcome Satan by relying on Jesus Christ, who worked out the Atonement, and by bearing and being true to our testimony.
Read: 1 Nephi 7:16 - 1 Nephi 8:15
Lehi shares his vision of the Tree of Life. In verse 12 of chapter 8 Lehi partakes of the fruit of the tree. Immediately after Lehi looks to share this fruit with his family. The tree represents the love of God in giving the world his Only Begotten Son (1 Nephi 11:21-22; John 3:16) and the fruit is eternal life (1 Nephi 15:36, D&C 14:7). Why do you feel Lehi wanted to share this fruit with his family? Think of a time when you have felt a little like Lehi and wanted to share what you know and feel with others. What did you want to share and why?
Reread Revelation 12:11 and think about how this verse can help you in your personal war with Satan. How does testimony overcome Satan?
President James E. Faust said "Perhaps we do not always remember that it is the power of the Spirit that carries our testimony into the hearts of others. Our testimony is our own. It cannot be challenged by someone else. It is personal and real to us. But it is the Holy Spirit that gives a similar witness to another." (The Importance of Bearing Testimony, Ensign March 1997. https://www.lds.org/ensign/1997/03/the-importance-of-bearing-testimony?lang=eng)
In what ways can you share your testimony with others?
In "The Importance of Bearing Testimony" President Faust invites "I ask the Lord to bless us all, that we will "not [be] ashamed of the gospel of Christ" and that we will humbly bear our testimonies about it and about the joys and blessings and strength we receive as we live its teachings and follow its precepts.
Take a moment now to fill President Faust's invitation by recording your testimony about Jesus Christ, His Gospel, "and about the joys and blessings and strength we receive as we live its teachings and follow its precepts."
